The Museum of Russian Emigration will be open in Kislovodsk town on the initiative of the well-known patron of art, Baron Eduard von Falz-Fein from Liechtenstein. He has already been awarded the Pushkin Medal for his contribution into preservation of the cultural heritage of Russia. According to him, the choice of Kislovodsk town as the place for the future museum was not accidental: this Russian town was one of the centres of the so-called “Caucasus emigration”. The patron of art presented the museum with the sculpture of Fyodor Shalyapin created by the famous sculptor Dmitry Tugarinov. It was in Kislovodsk were the last Russian concert of the great bass singer took place before he emigrated. Falz-Fein is known as the patron of art who has searched for treasures of the Russian Emperors’ family. Throughout all his life the baron purchased many works of art at auctions, including Sotheby’s and Christie and then handed them over to Russia.
